The latest addition to the Streets of Barangaroo, 12-Micron, is offering up modern Australian food in the heart of the new CBD dining precinct.
Complete with 270-degree waterfront views, 12-Micron is set to become a a great spot for long lunches, cocktails with friends, or a dinner date. The kitchen is led by Justin Wise, a former The Age Young Chef of the Year whose Melbourne triumphs include the Point on Albert Park Lake and Meatmaiden.
Wise says he takes inspiration from the elements of the ocean, land and air, as well as local Australian farmers and producers. “The menu is designed to showcase local produce," he says. "Even our crockery has been made by local potters. It’s casual, beautiful and modern."
The restaurant space will offer both a private dining and function space, alongside a specialty dessert bar.
And what about the name? It's actually an oblique reference to the quality of Australian farming. A 12-micron fleece is among the rarest and finest quality wool in the world.
