It’s 2025, and in case you missed it – camping is in. Thankfully for Sydneysiders, there are some incredible camping (and glamping) sites right on our doorstep – from a magical safari experience in the city’s most famous zoo to an incredible site on an island in the middle of the harbour. If being coastal is at the top of your camp site tick list, we’re here to help. We spoke with CEO of Reflections Holidays, Nick Baker, for his top picks of the best coastal camping sites in NSW. Naturally, a fair few of them are Reflections parks, but (brand names aside) they all fit the brief: affordable, accessible, beautiful camping sites just steps away from the sand.

Where to find the best beachfront camping in NSW

Byron Bay

Byron Bay is just the spot for a laid-back beach getaway, and Reflections Byron Bay is where you want to be. Just a short stroll from Byron’s iconic Clarkes Beach, this campground gives you the perfect balance of beach vibes and town access. Wake up to ocean views, then grab your board and hit the surf at the Pass or head into town for the best cafés, local markets, and boutique shopping. Whether you’re roughing it in a tent or opting for a cabin, the park’s beachfront location is an unbeatable base for exploring all that Byron has to offer.

Honeymoon Bay

Looking for something a bit more secluded? Honeymoon Bay Beach Campground, located in Jervis Bay National Park, is a beautiful spot where you can camp right next to a pristine beach. It’s perfect for those who want to escape the hustle and bustle and enjoy some real peace and quiet. The bay is perfect for a refreshing swim, some snorkeling, or a kayak. The campground might be simple, but it’s got everything you need for a laid-back escape. It’s the kind of place where you can switch off from your daily habits, and reconnect with nature.

Jervis Bay

There’s a reason Jervis Bay is often called the ‘jewel of the south coast’. The Jervis Bay Holiday Park lets you camp right on one of the most beautiful beaches in Australia, surrounded by lush national parkland. Think powder-white sand, crystal-clear waters, and plenty of space to spread out. It’s the perfect place for swimming, snorkelling, kayaking, or just unwinding in the sun. If you're looking for a campground that lets you fully immerse yourself in natural beauty, this is it.

Bonny Hills

Said to be the pot of gold at the end of Rainbow Beach, Reflections Bonny Hills offers breathtaking ocean views, golden sand, and the perfect balance of adventure and relaxation. Perched on a headland above the Pacific Ocean, this laid-back coastal village in the Camden Haven region is worth every minute of the four-hour drive from Sydney. Choose from oceanfront powered sites, glamping tents, or premium cabins with panoramic views, and enjoy whale watching, fishing, and reliable surf breaks. When you’re ready to explore, greater Port Macquarie’s foodie scene and rainforests await.

Booderee National Park

For a more rugged, nature-filled experience, Booderee National Park is a great option. The Green Patch Campground especially is a hidden treasure, positioned right by the beach with water perfect for swimming and snorkelling. But it’s not just the beach that’ll have you hooked, as the park is also a cultural hotspot, with rich Aboriginal history to explore. It’s ideal for those looking to get away from it all and reconnect with nature while being surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery in the region.

Jimmys Beach

If you’re after a getaway close to Sydney, Reflections Jimmys Beach is your go-to. Located just outside of Hawks Nest and three hours drive from Sydney, this spot sits right on the sand, with the stunning Myall Lakes National Park as its backyard. Whether you’re into fishing, swimming, or just relaxing on the beach, this place has you covered. With both tent and cabin options, there’s no shortage of accommodation choices.

Crescent Head

For a more active beachside escape, head to Crescent Head Holiday Park. Located on the Mid North Coast, this park gives you easy access to Crescent Head’s famous surf breaks. If you’re a surfer, you’ll love waking up by the beach and hitting the water right outside your tent. If you prefer to spend your holidays relaxing, don’t worry, as there are plenty of other ways to enjoy the beach and river, from coastal walks to long, lazy days in the sun. With a mix of powered and unpowered sites, as well as cabins, Crescent Head is ideal for travellers with a range of camping experiences.

Diamond Head

If you prefer the road less travelled, give Diamond Head Campground in Crowdy Bay National Park a go. This peaceful campground is just a short walk from the beach and offers everything from swimming and fishing to scenic walks through the surrounding bushland. It’s the perfect place to unwind, unplug and enjoy the natural beauty of the NSW coast. Whether you’re staying in a tent or a van, Diamond Head is the kind of spot where you can completely disconnect and recharge.
