If you haven't gone and smashed a Matteo pizza in Double Bay by now, you're missing out, but soon you'll have twice the opportunities to engage in a mega carb fest because Matteo is opening a second inner city location in August.

Matteo Downtown is located on Bond Street and will be open for breakfast, lunch, aperitivo, dinner, and drinks until late. They're fully embracing the frenetic energy of big city life at their new digs (their Eastern Suburbs location possesses a more relaxed, coastal vibe), with a mozzarella and antipasto bar for swift snacking, a dining room for business lunches and an art-framed bar if you're just passing through.

On your way to work you can get pastries, panino and coffee in the tradition of Italian breakfasts, but you can also sit in for a café meal with Italian sensibilities. In great news for people looking for a nicer lunch at twice the speed they're implementing an express menu (minute steaks and pasta, on the double). Or maybe you're not rushing back to your desk and want to linger over squid ink fregola, osso bucco, and linguine
vongole.

But the best news of all is that they're going to be doing aperitivo properly on weekdays, when between 4pm and 6pm you can sit at the bar and enjoy complimentary nibbles to go with your drinks.

Matteo Downtown opens August 2018 at 20 Bond Street, Sydney 2000. www.matteosydney.com
