Chinatown is already a thriving hub of some of Sydney's best yum cha restaurantsdessert spots and cheap eats. Now it's upping its lunch time snack game, with the arrival of a brand spanking new food court.

Market City is putting the finishing touches on the 1909 Dining Precinct, which once fully opened will have eight swanky new eateries in total. Located on the third level, the food court will play host to some already established local restaurants and newbies. First to open is Mr Meng Chongqing Gourmet, which specialises in braised beef noodle soups. Also fun fact – it's owned by the host from the brutal and ever popular Chinese dating show If You Are the One, Meng Fei (hence the name).

This will be followed by several more dine-in and takeaway options, including hot pot chain Dolar Shop and Yayoi Japanese Teishoku, plus Korean barbecue Kogi and sushi train Fugetsu. The rest of the eateries are expected to be open by mid-2018.

1909 Dining Precinct will open Thursday March 8 at Market City, 9-13 Hay St, Haymarket 2000.
