It’s officially been one year since RaRa, Redfern’s rollicking ramen-ya, stormed the Sydney noodle soup scene – and the crew is shaking things up with a couple of big announcements and specials in honour of the milestone.
Chances are you’ve probably come face-to-face with a pretty big queue if you’ve popped into the insanely popular shop during peak periods. To that end, the team have stretched the weekend hours so that doors are now open all day, from noon until close on Saturday and Sunday. And, as of this week, they’re now trading on Mondays for lunch and dinner, so you’ve got all seven days to get your slurp on. Take that, wait times.
For the next month, the kitchen will also be celebrating, with a new, limited birthday ramen each week. Right now, they’re pumping out a tori paitan number (think tonkotsu-style, but made with chicken) decked out with the usual suspects and finished with poached chicken breast, chashu chicken and yuzu peel. In coming weeks, expect a vegan riff on tantanmen, with a veg-based clear broth, grilled vegetables, mushroom oil and spicy vegan mince. Whether any of these will join the permanent line-up is uncertain, so get in while you can.
And make sure you come thirsty – drink specials will include Japanese craft beers on tap, whisky highballs and natural wines. Kanpai, indeed.
