That is enough, 2022. One of Sydney's most beloved (and loosest) late-night Greek restaurants, Steki Taverna in Newtown is shutting up shop after 39 years, according to a Facebook post that owner Paul Oiakimidis made on Sunday, August 28.

In the post, Ioakimidis stated that "all avenues to stay longer have been exhausted and have been unsuccessful." While there are hints that Steki may reopen in a different location, details are thin on the ground and to this paranoid writer, it all rings dangerously close to yet another great loss in Sydney's culinary scene.

The Steki crew has also posted an open invitation for party-goers, fans of great eats, and lovers of live Greek tunes to come by for what will presumably be an absolute belter on Monday August 29.
