If you make your commute into work via train, you might want to work from home this Thursday and Friday. Following an ongoing dispute between the Rail Tram and Bus Union and Transport for NSW, transport workers have confirmed that they’ll be going on strike from this Thursday, November 21, until Sunday, November 24.

The strike will impact Sydney inter-city and suburban lines, so you’ll need to look for alternative ways to get around the city over the weekend.

Union workers have been calling on the government to increase services to around the clock, and while we’re pretty keen on the idea, the government pushed back – arguing that the costs involved with running trains 24 hours a day would “eventually lead to the failure of our rail network”.

Instead, the NSW Government put forward a proposal to run a 24-hour train service between Hornsby and Strathfield, but the RTBU is standing by its promise to strike if their full requests aren’t met. You can learn more about the RTBU's current industrial action via their website

When will Sydney trains go on strike?

According to the latest information, trains across the Sydney inter-city and suburban lines will stop running from the morning of Thursday, November 21, and won’t begin running again until the morning of Monday, November 25. You can stay up to date and plan your trip over here.
