Update November 22: In devastating news for Sydney's Childish Gambino (aka Donald Glover) fans, the rapper-turned-actor has announced that his upcoming Australian tour is officially cancelled. This news may not come as a huge surprise for those closely following the artist, as he was also forced to cancel shows in North America and Europe last month.

Donald Glover posted on X in October, sharing that he would need to postpone the shows to focus on recovering from surgery for “an ailment that had become apparent". Now, Aussie fans have received an email from Ticketek with a new message from Glover.

“Unfortunately, my path to recovery is taking longer than expected”, reads the statement.

“The upcoming concerts in Australia and New Zealand are cancelled. One of the last things I'd ever want to do is disappoint my fans. I really appreciate the support you have shown and know that I will do what I can to give you an exceptional experience when the time is right. Thank you.”

If you’ve got a ticket, you can expect to receive an automatic refund from Ticketek to the buyer’s original payment method – although it will take up to 30 days to process. If you purchased through an agency or with a gift voucher, you’ll need to contact the company by December 20 to secure a refund.

We’ve got our fingers crossed that Glover’s recovery continues smoothly from here on out, and that a future reschedule could be on the horizon.

Fresh off the back of tour announcements from musical megastars Olivia Rodrigo and Billie Eilish, there’s another huge concert to slot into our schedules (and our budgets). Fans have been waiting a long time for Childish Gambino (the musical masterwork from multi-talented American actor, writer, producer and director Donald Glover) to return Down Under, and our patience has finally paid off. The general release ticket sale opens today (Monday, May 20) at 11am.

Here's everything you need to know...

This morning! Monday, May 20, 2024. General sales for the Sydney shows begins at 11am via Ticketek.

Is there a pre-sale for the Childish Gambino Sydney show?

For an artist as huge as Childish Gambino, of course! The American Express presale and Frontier presale have already passed, though – so those who don't have tickets need to compete with the general public from today.

How much will tickets cost for Childish Gambino’s Australian tour?

Ticket prices have now been released, and they look like this:

  • GA standing: $199
  • A reserve seating: $199

For the ultimate Gambino experience, you can book the 'Emerald Reserved Seated package' for $489, or the Diamond Early Entry package for $389.

Who is the support for Childish Gambino’s Australian shows?

Ghanaian-American singer-songwriter Amaarae will be supporting Childish Gambino for both Sydney shows, in what will be her first big Australian tour.

What are the cities and dates for Childish Gambino's 2025 Australian and New Zealand tour?

Unlike some tours that have been announced recently, Childish Gambino is stopping all around the country, as well as across the ditch. He’ll pop by Auckland’s Spark Arena on January 28, Brisbane’s Entertainment Centre on February 1, Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena on February 7 and February 8, and Perth’s RAC Arena on February 11.
