Time Out says

Metro Theatre presents a rare opportunity to enjoy the classic Stax Records repertoire as performed by the man who wrote so many of the songs – the one and only Booker T  Jones.

Honouring some of the greatest soul classics from the
legendary label from Memphis, Booker T will perform with his band, a horn section and singers to deliver such hits as ‘Green Onions’ (Booker T & the MGs), ‘Try a Little Tenderness’ (Otis Redding), ‘Mr Big Stuff’ (Jean Knight), ‘Gee Whiz’ (Carla Thomas), ‘Respect’ (Otis Redding/Aretha Franklin), ‘Born Under a Bad Sign’ (Albert King), ‘Time Is Tight’ (Booker T & the MGs), ‘Hold on I'm Coming' (Sam & Dave) and ‘When Something Is Wrong with My Baby’ (Sam & Dave).

Booker T, a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Musician Hall of Fame inductee, Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award recipient and winner of four Grammy Awards, is excited to be presenting this journey through soul, blues and RnB in Australia for the very first time. The Metro gig is on the back of his appearance at Bluesfest, Byron Bay.
