Blink and you might have missed the news that in mid-2016, the largest privately owned collection of cars and motorbikes in the country opened in Gosford, NSW. It's ranked within the top five car museums in the world – and it's just over an hour's drive from Sydney. Summer road trip, anyone?
If you're already a motoring enthusiast, then you'll need no convincing here. But for everyone else, this museum is well worth the visit. Classic-lovers will relish the chance to get up close to masterpieces from decades past; and history buffs will get the chance to see cars from all corners of the world, including the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe. What's more, there are a number of muscle machines and supercars on display – not to mention an assortment of military vehicles. Highlights include classic Ferraris, Bentleys, Volkswagen Beetles and the beautiful Alvis TB14 Roadster (pictured). All up, the collection is worth approximately a cool $70 million.
The space spans 11,000 square metres; enough room for the 450+ cars and motorcycles on display. New vehicles are constantly being found and added to the collection, so there is always something new to see.
