Most of the time, the lanes of Sydney Olympic Park’s 50-metre pool are filled with serious swimmers smashing out the laps. However, when summer rolls around, these waters undergo an eye-popping transformation.
The Splash n Fun pop-up water park is an inflatable playground of slides, obstacles, runways and swings, offering a fun-filled way to cool off when the mercury soars outside. This year’s star attraction will be the Atomic Drop slide – a towering chute that's not for the faint-hearted – alongside a bonanza of other bouncy attractions for swimmers of all abilities, aged four and up.
These aquatic adventures will only be in town for a short time, from January 6 – 24, and tickets are strictly limited to avoid pesky overcrowding, so be sure to book in advance. Adults play for $8.30 for a single session, with kids tickets setting you back $6.30. For those who want to get their money's worth, unlimited one-day re-entry passes are available for $12.
Splash n Fun bounces into town at the height of the school holidays, but if you’re looking for more ways to keep the kids occupied, there's heaps beside swimming to keep the young’ns busy at Sydney Olympic Park. They can try their hand at archery, learn some acrobatics at circus workshops, and go on nature walks to meet the animals who call the area home, plus more besides. Check out the Sydney Olympic Park website for full details of school holiday activities.
