Got a teen at home who won't stop filming TikTok dances? Got a kid in your household who sings literally every waking moment of the day? Constantly entertained by your daughter's comic timing? Sounds like they'd love a week of unadulterated fun and learning with the Australian Theatre for Young People's (ATYP) school holiday drama workshops. Don't be fooled by the name, there's more on offer than just drama in their suite of classes, they're catering to young people from kindergarten to year twelve with stage and screen acting, singing, short films, comedy, audition tips, play, movement and much more.
ATYP is facilitating classes at locations across central Sydney and the Inner West. The workshops are catered to different age groups and run by professional performing arts tutors and working actors and directors. For the little ones you can choose packages for primary school ages, like K-2 (Zoo Tales), 3-4 (The Abandoned Lab), 4-6 (Hubble, Bubble, Toil and Trouble) and 5-6 (The Show Must Go On) that all culminate in a show you can watch at the end of the week. If you're looking for something a bit more advanced for your highschooler there's workshops for years 7-9 that take a look at ATYP library plays (Impending Everyone) or short film making, exploring devising your own productions or diving in to the Buddy Comedy genre. For HSC kids and aspiring starlets there's also an audition technique workshop they're sure to find supremely useful. This is just a sample of the many stimulating workshops ATYP is offering these school holidays, be sure to browse the full schedule here.
Book in the young person in your life confident they'll be well looked after. There's before and after class care to assist working parents and carers.
