Time Out says

Sure, you may love the grisly puppets and originality of the first wave of Star Wars films, but even dedicated Yoda and Obi-Wan fans have to admit that Star Wars: The Force Awakens was an exciting new chapter in the sci-fi franchise. Now, you can be one with the force all over again alongside Chewie, Han, Leia and Luke (briefly), plus fantastic new characters in a screening that’s grander than the Imperial Fleet with a live orchestral soundtrack.

Conductor Nicholas Buc will be leading the Sydney Symphony Orchestra as they play the nostalgic but always fresh John Williams score at this Sydney Opera House screening. As the strings sing, we’ll meet Rey (Daisy Ridley), who’s a lonely scavenger on Jakku destined for great things, Finn (John Boyega), a former storm trooper who’s just deserted the First Order army (essentially the new Galactic Empire), Resistance pilot Poe (Oscar Isaac) and our favourite new bad guy, Kylo Ren (Adam Driver). And who could forget the new robot star, BB-8.

After Rey, Finn and BB-8 team up, the story follows a somewhat familiar tale of an outsider realising their power and the nice guys joining an army to fight the forces imposing a tyrannical rule over the galaxy. There’s plenty of nostalgia in this story that’s set 30 years after the fall of the Empire, from Harrison Ford’s Han Solo still running from debt collectors, to the Millenium Falcon still suffering mechanical issues and Carrie Fisher’s Leia living on as a kick-arse leader.

This live concert screening is one in a series curated by the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, so if you’re ready to take the next step in the Star Wars saga with full orchestral backing, trust in the force and book tickets to one of the four shows from September 12-14.
