Veganism is one of the major food trends of the moment and whether you're fully on board or merely curious about the benefits and ethics behind it, here's a free film event you'll want to register for.
Films for Change are hosting a screening of Dominion at the Royal Australian Historical Society. Directed by Chris Delforce, who founded the animal rights charity Aussie Farms, the film tackles humanity's dominion over the animal kingdom in the areas of scientific research, entertainment, clothing and food. The film includes drone footage that lifts the veil of secrecy on industries that use animals. The movie is co-narrated by Joaquin Phoenix, Rooney Mara and Sia among others.
The screening includes tastings of Funky Pies, a vegan pie maker based in Bondi, and Bennetto Chocolate, which is made from Pervuvian and Ecuadorian beans from small-scale farming groups who champion gender equality, young farmer training and reforestation in the Amazon.
The film and food are all free, but you need to register to ensure your place. The film has an MA15+ rating.
