It's astounding the way the Rocky Horror cult persists down the years. The world's first movie to go viral opened back in 1974 and continues to draw crowds who love to dress up, sing along and revel in the campy subversion of Richard O'Brien's B-movie musical, as immortalised in Jim Sharman's oddball film adaptation.
Now the Beyond Cinema people invite you to cross that dark and forbidding threshhold into Frank N Furter's lair with their immersive Rocky Horror screening at Leichhardt Town Hall. Guests will find themselves inside the doctor's mansion, where they can join in on the songs and dances performed by a troupe of Transylvanians and sit down for a viewing of The Rocky Horror Picture Show on the big screen.
There are two sessions on the day, one at 1pm and one at 6pm, and ticket holders from both sessions get access to the after party at 9pm, where no doubt a certain famous dance will take place. A cash bar will be on site, but you'll have to BYO fishnets.
