The second instalment of the two-part dance piece Love Cycle confronts audiences with love’s failings. The Australian premiere Love Chapter 2 peers into the emotional abyss created after an obsessively entrenched romantic relationship crumbles.
In its complementary prequel, OCD Love, the struggle to control and inhabit these compulsive feelings is explored, and the second performance details the breakdown and aftermath of such a relationship. Both parts draw from the work of slam poet Neil Hilborn, who was diagnosed with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) as a child. The artist brings the anxiety, compulsions and social bewilderment created by the condition to his works like OCD, the heart-wrenching poem which inspired Love Cycle.
This insightful performance is the creation of world renowned Israeli contemporary dance company L-E-V, and spearheaded by creators Sharon Eyal, was in the world-famous Batsheva Dance Company, and Gai Behar, featuring music by Ori Lichtik. The passionate piece is sure to hit a chord with anyone versed in, or perplexed by, the art of love.
