Dave Hughes is bringing his observational ocker comedy back to the Sydney Comedy Festival this year with new show Hairy. The title alludes not only to his overgrown fringe and his choice to go a year without visiting a hairdresser, but also to life’s more complicated situations. In typical Hughesy style, he jumps from one story to the next in an effortlessly hilarious way.
Over two nights, Hughes will hop around Sydney, performing to crowds at the Enmore Theatre in Newtown on May 17 and the Concourse in Chatswood on May 18.
His outraged and matter-of-fact style makes this larrikin comedian a strong voice in Australian comedy. He’s become one of Australia’s best-known comedians through his many TV and radio appearances.
His last appearance on the Sydney Comedy Festival circuit was in 2017 with his sold-out show, Deluded. For his latest offering, expect Hughes to dish up stories from his family life, current news events and things he just finds ridiculous, to near-constant laughs.
