Winter is on the out. You can feel it in the longer days and the sun beating down on us with renewed vigour. And to celebrate the new season the gang from Young Henrys brewery and the Mary's boys are packing their bags and heading out of the city for a weekend pool party on the south coast.

Bannisters Pavilion at Mollymook Beach is a new 33-room boutique beach hotel, and to get people in mini-break mode they're letting Newtown's rock'n'roll brewers and burger-masters take over the rooftop bar and grill, throw a pig on a spit for 12 hours, cook up rounds of crazy delicious cheeseburgers, and pull beers by the pool.

Best part is this isn't a ticketed event, so you can just jump in the car (it's just over 3 hours form Sydney), book a room or throw a tent in too and head south for some salty sea air, ace eats and cold brews. If you always like a learning opportunity when you travel, Jake Smyth (Mary's) and Oscar McMahon (YH) will be holding a masterclass on a subject yet to be determined, but it'll probably be sweary and fun.

The poolside party is on Sat Sep 17 from noon until 10pm, so if the inner city pressure is getting you down head to Mollymook to shake it off. Of course if you prefer a fancier gourmet getaway, maybe the River Cottage experience is more to your tastes.
