Ready to be inspired? TEDxSydney is back for its annual day of talks, films, music and debate, all taking place on Friday June 16 at the new location, the ICC Sydney.
Sure, it won't be the same as being under the sails, but this year's event brings with it a new venue and a new curator: radio and TV presenter Fenella Kernebone. There'll be 22 speakers and performers sharing bold ideas under the theme of ‘unconventional’.
The line-up includes co-founder and co-CEO of software company Atlassian, Mike Cannon-Brookes, award-winning actor and Aboriginal elder Uncle Jack Charles, comedian, actor and singer for the Axis of Awesome Jordan Raskopoulos, Paralympian Sarah Houbolt, and historian and satirist David Hunt.
Plus, award-winning foreign correspondent Peter Greste, freelance journalist for the Sydney Morning Herald Jane Gilmore, the first female Dean of Engineering at ANU Professor Elanor Huntington, as well as lawyer, diversity practitioner, advocate and social commentator Mariam Veiszadeh.
Guests can also enjoy musical performances from L-Fresh the Lion, Sarah Blasko, Gawurra, Ngaiire, Cash Savage and the Last Drinks, Andy Dexterity and Airling.
Tickets are $350 for those who wish to attend on the day. If that's a little exxy for your budget, the Vibe Hotel Rushcutters Bay is live streaming talks from the ICC to a viewing room in the hotel. Tickets cost $10 per session and there’ll be a lunch hosted by Tashi Dorjee from TwoSpace, a Sydney start-up that turns unused restaurant spaces into co-working spaces. The beauty of this satellite event is that you can opt into the sessions you want to watch.
