Ah, burgers. They provoke arguments over who does the best in town (here is Time Out's guide to the best burgers if you're curious). They sate hunger like no other meat sandwich. And, well, who doesn't love cheese, meat and carbs combined in one tasty handful? But when Soul Burger hit Randwick, it was pretty surprising to hear they were doing totally vegan burgers. And they are seriously good burgers – even making our best burgers list among the meaty competition – so when we heard they were opening another shop in Glebe, we were pretty excited.
So what will you be eating at Soul Burger? Well, there's the Sumo burger. It’s a beast: the plant-based 'beef' patty is paired with soft, buttery, chargrilled field mushrooms; a pepper-spiked (plant-based) sausage; a silky swathe of roast red capsicum; lettuce, tomato and a fresh-tasting tomato relish. Or, if you love falafels, have them on on a burger that comes topped with pleasingly sour aioli, nutty tahini, tomato, salad and a little rubble of tabouli. You'll also find kumara chips that are crisp outside; potato-based 'red fries'; and milkshakes made from soya milk and house-made coconut ice cream.
Soul Burger is open from today and is located on 111 Glebe Point Rd, Glebe 2037.
