South Sydney, you're getting a shiny new rooftop bar

It's not often that the Sutherland Shire is the site of hot bar news, so the fact that this one has a rooftop makes it even more exciting. Highfield Caringbah will open on December 8 – the schmicked-up pub is home to four different venues, with the crowning glory being the Botanical. The rooftop oasis will be home to a whole lot of hanging plants and will provide views all the way back to the city skyline. There's also a cocktail bar ready to shake up summer ready drinks and a stone fireplace, for when it cools down again. Food-wise there will be a Japanese-inspired robata grill, so think of all the tasty meats on sticks you can eat in the open summer air.

Downstairs, you'll find the soon-to-be-opened Public House, which will focus on pumping out an entire menu of different schnitzels, plus pub favourites. It will boast 28 beer taps, bringing a big craft beer range to Caringbah. These two hot spots join the the already opened Ugly Pizza (a New York-inspired pizzeria) and Huxley’s Sports Bar.

Highfield Caringbah opens Friday Dec 8, at 32 Banksia Rd, Caringbah 2229.
