Antenna Documentary Film Festival, which kicks off on Wednesday October 12, is offering an unusual enticement to filmgoers.

For the festival's screening of the film Bugs, which explores the benefits of insects as a protein source, they've teamed up with Cow and Moon, who have created an ant 'choc top' for the occasion.

It's actually a guava-flavoured gelato with a sprinkling of ants on top, promising a pop of acidity with each mouthful. The antsy ice creams will allow filmgoers to connect with the Bugs film "in a real, adventurous and visceral way," says festival manager Kate Vinen.

"We might win a few people over," says Cow and Moon's Sam Crowl. "It’ll be an interesting social experiment.”

Bugs screens on Saturday October 15 at the Chauvel Cinemas; you can get more info and tickets for Antenna Documentary Film Festival here.
