Kensington Street in Chippendale – aka Spice Alley – is the location for a three-week, rustic experiential installation for Stoneleigh Wines, the popular Marlborough label.
The brand have taken over an empty terrace house and transformed it into a "hotel" overrun by nature. We're talking moss on every surface, pebbles covering the floor and crystal glasses suspended from the ceiling. It's an Instagrammer's paradise, basically.
From Tuesday through Sunday visitors to 48 Kensington Street (next to Spice Alley) will be able to taste Stoneleigh Wines including:
Stoneleigh Wild Valley Marlborough Pinot Noir 2015
Made with fruit picked at optimum ripeness, this pinot is wild fermented by micro-flora that occur naturally in the Rapaura environment. With rich berry aromas and a palate bursting with red berries and cherries, it’s ideal with spring lamb, duck, veal or game.
Stoneleigh Wild Valley Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2015
Made with fruit picked at optimum ripeness, this sav blanc is wild fermented by micro-flora that occur naturally in the Rapaura environment. Exhibiting the hallmark citrus and passionfruit aromas, wild fermentation introduces hints of nectarine and a rounder mouthfeel. Try with oily fish such as salmon.
Stoneleigh Classic Sauvignon Blanc
This vibrant and lively Sauvignon Blanc displays lifted tropical fruit aromas that follow through to feature ripe tropical fruit, melon and stone fruit flavours on the palate.
Stoneleigh Classic Pinot Noir
Immediately approachable, this wine has a deep ruby red hue and dark berry fruit and cherry flavours with persistent fruit sweetness.
The Stoneleigh Hotel is open Tue–Fri 5-10pm and Sat, Sun noon-10pm.
To celebrate Stoneleigh Wines, Mekong restaurant on Kensington Street will provide a complimentary bottle of Stoneleigh Wild Valley Sauvignon Blanc for any booking of two or more (while supplies last).
