There’s a lot of room to move at this expansive Gladesville Hotel, and a recent refurb in tones of blonde wood and teal has ensured a designated spot for you, no matter the mood that brought you there. There’s cosy seats to be found around the central gas fireplace when you just want some quiet time over a schooner; people pack the all-weather terrace for family dinners that someone else cooks and round to one side there’s a stage for comedy gigs and live music on Saturday nights. They tackle hump day head on with karaoke and wagyu t-bone steaks, they show the footy on Mondays and on Friday nights they cater to the after-work crowd who don’t want to schlepp into the city and risk lockout obstacles when they could be toasting the weekend closer to home with an eight-buck shooters list. The menus look to the four corners for inspiration. You can get crisp little blistered dumplings, kransky hot dogs, panko-crumbed prawns or beer-battered fries with cream cheese and bacon as bar snacks, and that’s before you consider the mains and specials that are equally broad in scope.
