[CLOSED] This little neighbourhood bar in a corner terrace in Glebe is like Neverland for your uni days. Out the back is a brick courtyard decked out in colourful lights, plastic chairs, a huge mural and a tarpaulin strung up in case of bad weather. In the middle of the building you’ll find a lounge room with velvet lounges, upstairs is a performance space where there are regular swing dancing classes and monthly burlesque showcases, and right up front facing out onto Glebe Point Road there’s a jumble of tables and chairs and a spot cleared for the live music on every night of the week. Everything is a little battered and hard loved, but it’s also comfy, familiar and takes you back to the days when jaffles and Cheezels were the dinner of kings. They have a nice collection of craft beers in bottles so if you don’t feel like an Orion or a Singha on tap you can furnish your drinking hand with a Lord Nelson, Temple Brewing Co, 4 Pines, White Rabbit, a Savanna Dry or a can or Rio Brava. After a sugar rush? They also stock half litre bottles of the Brookvale Union alcoholic ginger beer. It treads a curious middle ground between nan’s scone shop and every house party you’ve ever been to, and that’s kind of what we like about Mr Falcon’s.
