A longtime haunt of University of Sydney students, this Camperdown local has undergone major renovations, and the food offering has been refreshed along with the furniture. Head chef Jamie Dyball (Glass Brasserie) has put together a menu of hearty pub favourites sprinkled with trend-savvy plates that speak to Sydneysiders’ palates. You can still order a chicken parmi, bangers ’n’ mash or steak sandwich any day of the week, but you can also swap your dollars for deconstructed fish tacos, a superfood salad, or a plate of herb and parmesan gnocchi with charred corn, roast pumpkin, sage browned butter and kale chips.
There’s outdoor dining spaces both in front and out the back that make an attractive proposition in the warmer months, and happy hour is just as cheap and cheerful as it ever was – $5 house beers and wines from 4-6pm every day of the week.
