Sydney’s craft brewing scene is stronger than ever, but there’s a lot happening outside the city limits, too. That’s where 12 Taps comes in. This little local hangout features (you guessed it) 12 taps, all of which are pouring independent beers from the likes of Mudgee Brewing Co and the Coastal Brewing Company in Forster (both of which are partners in the business). The rest of the rotating line-up showcases the handiwork of local gypsy brewers or regional microbreweries that otherwise wouldn’t have a home.
There’s room for 70 punters in the no-nonsense, two-storey Glebe Point Road digs with the laidback neighbourhood vibe that comes with mismatched furniture and a chalkboard menu. Snacks are eclectic and engineered with the beer drinker in mind, from buffalo wings and fried calamari to roasted vegetable empanadas and Thai pork sausage on a stick – and they all clock in at less than 15 bucks. We can all raise a schooner to that.
