Consuming 18 days in the late summer with over 40 theatre productions on 13 stages, the Zurich Theatre Festival is one for your cultural calendar. Since it launched in 1980, it has become one of Europe’s most important festivals for the contemporary performing arts. Its heartland is the Landiwiese recreation area on the shores of the lake in Zurich-Wollishofen, and stages are spread from there across locations including the Rote Fabrik and a shipyard. There are plenty of on-site bars and restaurants mingled in too.
