Laced into chestnut woodland on the eastern bank of Lake Maggiore, this outdoor yoga trail is a vita parcours with a difference. The trail, which takes around one hour to complete, comprises different stations for practising nine exercises arranged in the structure of a yoga class – including Prana (energising breath), sun salutations and Savasana (corpse pose). Entirely self-guided, it corresponds to an instruction leaflet and map available for free at the first station or online. It is utterly charming, with little wooden signs and bridges en-route devised by founder Sabrina Nussbaum, who also opened the world’s first ‘yoga piste’ in St. Moritz. The qualified yoga and ski instructor wanted to awaken visitors’ senses and awareness of their surroundings, while also boosting their fitness and wellbeing – and it works: the trail is energetic, and so beautiful, the mind struggles to be distracted. Moderate fitness and sturdy footwear are required.
