Time Out says

Ploughing its way across southern Switzerland, the Glacier Express is as much about the journey as the destination, traversing 91 tunnels and 291 impressive bridges. In fact the route has been dubbed the slowest express service in the world, taking almost eight hours to cover 291km between Zermatt and St Moritz. But the payoff comes in the jaw-dropping views that glide past you as the train climbs up to 2,033m and then descends to 585m above sea level in one sitting. The carriages' pneumatic suspension and ergonomic seats ensure a comfortable ride, while the panoramic windows provide perfect views of the mesmerising scenery. New afternoon departures allow you to take in natural wonders such as the Rhine Gorge – the ‘Grand Canyon of Switzerland’ – and the Oberalp Pass at their sunset-lit best, while the on-board catering features a menu of freshly prepared regional products served direct to your seat.
