Davos is one of the most famous Swiss ski resorts with a high profile among local and international skiers alike. The region's resorts have distinctive characteristics – Jakobshorn is for the young and fearless, Pischa, Madrisa and Rinerhorn are for families and Parsenn is for skiers who like long, long runs. An unusual attraction in Davos is the 'decelerated' ski slope on Schatzalp-Strela, which offers snowsports at a less frenetic pace – take the T-bar (accompanied by the strains of traditional music) and schuss gently back to the bottom, enjoying the views as you go. The region is also well-known as a cross country paradise and offers crisp trails which follow the Flüelatal valley. Off the slopes, the town of Davos tends to be livelier than Klosters village, although it lacks the latter's traditional charms.
