Drawing on the pleasing but rather tenuous link between fairycakes and fairytales, this idiosyncratic place is part cupcake bakery, part t-shirt shop with a princess theme. At the front of the shop you can choose from a selection of beautifully decorated (but sadly rather small) cupcakes in a variety of flavours and colours, from strawberry vanilla to salted caramel. But Melazic isn’t just about buying ready-to-eat cakes, it wants to encourage you to make your own, too. So it also sells various icings and cake decorating materials along with cookie cutters in eclectic shapes – if you ever wanted diplodocus-shaped biscuits, well now you can. On the fairytale side of things, the shop’s printed men’s and women’s t-shirts, aprons and even boxer shorts set out to make everyone a princess or prince charming, or even a “prince charming en voie d’extinction” as one pair of boxers proclaims. If you want to take your interest in cupcakes even further, the shop also holds regular cake decorating workshops, perfect for hen dos, birthdays or kids parties.
