One of Lausanne’s best chocolatiers, Durig occupies two shops in the city, but this is the original one, where the chocolates are made on site. Master chocolatier Dan Durig and his team use organic, fair-trade cocoa beans to create individual chocolates and pralines in gift boxes, individually packaged novelty chocolate animals, nougats and covered cocoa beans, plus packets of chocolate shards which are all too easy to wolf down. Excitingly for chocoholics, the company offers the chance to visit its chocolate-making workshop for a tour, demonstration and tasting session or a hands-on experience where you get to mould your own chocolate animal or create a batch of chocolates to take away. Better located if you’re just looking to buy, Durig’s second shop is on Rue Mercerie near to the town hall.
