What started as a modest folk festival in 1976 has now become one of Switzerland’s most established music festivals, drawing big name stars to the 84-hectare grassy (or muddy, depending on the weather) site above Nyon to play to 230,000 spectators across the week. The festival's seven stages welcome both up-and-coming artists and long-established legends, along with street performers and circus acts.
Bands announced for the 2017 Paleo Festival so far include Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Arcade Fire, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Jamiroquai, Imany and Christopher Maé.
Like any open-air festival, it's possible to camp on site with a multi-day ticket, or buy a day pass only.
