Ibiza Basel will never be. But a regular gay club night that always pulls a loyal, party-ready crowd of men and women, young and, er, less young is queerPlanet, run by charismatic and connected local lesbian DJ Taylor Cruz. Deep house, electro and tribal beats are Cruz’ stock in trade, and the monthly parties up the ante with ‘glamour dancers’, guest DJs from Switzerland and beyond and occasional live music PAs. queerPLanet is a proper mixer – relaxed, welcoming, 100 percent attitude-free and a prime example of LGBT Switzerland’s gift for coming together. The cherry on top is the swishy, spacious new venue, as the night recently moved from its former home at Singerhaus to the shiny SUD in the stylishly converted former Warteck brewery building.
