Pioneering a 'dandy chic' style and attitude, Helvetia is at the forefront of next generation Switzerland. Dapper striped wallpapered bedrooms and retro white tiled bathrooms (amply accessorised with Kiehl toiletries) showcase a quirky interior design attitude that's somewhat rare in Swiss hotels. Rooms are compact but it's a small price to pay when it comes to accessing affordable luxury in an ideal city centre location. Lighter sleepers should ask for rooms at the river side of the hotel If budget allows, the attic suites are more like a loft style apartment and a good solution for longer city stays or those with children. Its gentrified brassiere restaurant, which attracts a bohemian crowd of local literati and financial wheeler-dealers, often ends up in a lively after dinner party at the bar (locally known as Helvti bar). Whilst its tiny summer terrace is a well-kept secret that's perfect for sunset downers and inner city views.
