Created in 1997 by the late great Maurice Béjart, this contemporary ballet (also known by its shorter name, Ballet for Life) is one of his most famous pieces and has been performed all over the world by the company. Paying tribute to three people who died too young – Queen frontman Freddie Mercury, composer Mozart and former Béjart Ballet principal dancer Jorge Donn – it’s set to the music of Queen and Mozart and features 37 dancers in a ballet designed to express optimism and the hope that, as Mercury sang, the show must go on. Catch it on home turf in Lausanne before the ever-busy company heads off again on tour around the world.
