Viharamahadevi Park

Colombo’s only public park is located centrally nearby the National Museum and other major landmarks. The parks premises of nearly 25 ha recently received a facelift, doing away with boundary walls and gates, to give way to more public access.  The park is a large green expanse dotted with tall trees and cycling and walking paths. One of the major attractions of the park is its tree cover, boasting of about 1,000 trees of 89 varieties. The park premises has intermittent resting points, with benches and seating areas and there are horse rides and food vendors selling everything from pickles, boiled chickpea to fruits. The park is also a popular getaway for romantic strolls in the mornings and evenings.
