Socrates is the latest play to be brought forth by the 80 Group, who were instrumental in bringing Sri Lankan theatre some exceptional dramatic creations. Professor Sunanda Mahendra wrote the self-directed drama by Nimal Ekanayake.
Produced by Professor Ashu Marasinghe the drama features many popular actors and actresses such as Jayalath Manorathna, Chandani Seneviratne, Nissanka Diddeniya, Jayalal Rohana, Wasantha Vitachchi, Prasannajith Abesuriya, Lal Kularathna, Susil Wickremesinghe, Sanjeeva Dissanayake and Nuwan Liyanage.
This drama will surely be a unique play with much philosophical thinking and talent behind it. To recreate and applaud the ancient Greek theatre, Nawarathne Gamage helps in music creation, Professor Lionel Bentharage in designing background props and Saman Kabral helps by being the Production Manager.
