Hunuwataye Kathawa

Based on The Caucasian Chalk Circle by Bertolt Brecht, Hunuwataye Kathawa is the Sinhala translation by Henry Jayasena. The play is about a queen, her son and the maid who raises the prince. It narrates the story of a queen who leaves her son for wealth. A maid finds the little prince and brings him up as her own. The hero of the play, Judge Azdak is played by Naleen Pradeep Uduwela. This play has been staged for 48 years and is still regarded as representing the best of Sri Lankan theatre. It promises to be a profound theatrical experience.
