Dedicated to lord Shiva and built towards the end of the 19th century, this is the only kovil in the country known to be constructed entirely of gray granite. It is a regal structure resembling Dravidian temple architecture. The pillars are intricately carved with motifs of birds, flowers and Hindu deities. The kovil located in Kotahena is of great importance to devotees especially during the Maha Shivarathri festival. The temple’s magnificent architecture is bound to leave one awe-struck.
