The oldest historical tree in the world, it is a sapling taken from the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi in Bodh Gaya. The sapling was planted in 288 BC, and several ancient kings had contributed to the development of the site. The Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi is the southern branch of the sacred Bodhi tree, beneath which Lord Buddha attained enlightenment in India. The encompassing Viharaya also feature unique cobra-stone embossed figures and several monolith heads.
