Polhena Beach

The Polhena beach is located about 2 Kilometres away from the Matara town. It has a stretch of coral reef barrier that extends for over 4 kms makes this beach a unique one. The reef barricades larger waves and only the softer ripples come rolling over to the shores thereby crearting a vast span of shallow waters ideal for swimming. Shops which sell bathing suits and swimming gear throng the coastline of the beaches making it easier if you come here unprepared on a spontaneous vacation. The beach is one of the safest for kids to have a good time.
