Extending from Galle Road to the end of Vajira Road, this massive kovil in Bambalapitiya is an ancient cultural site that is more than 100 years old. This is the only kovil, in Sri Lanka that has a separate shrine for Shirdi Baba, a Holy Saint. Devotees of Shirdi Baba come here to attend the poojas that are made to the shrine, on every Thursday. The streets of Bambalapitiya surrounding this kovil, are lit with colourful lights and huge crowds gather around the Aadi vel season, during which Lord Murugan is carried in the chariot. During the festive seasons; Kanda Shasti, Sankadahara Chathurthi and Aadi Vel, the kovil conducts special poojas.
