Lankatilaka Viharaya

Built with three storeys in a rococo design with bright frescoes and a seated Buddha, the Viharaya dates back to the 14^th Century AD. Pahangala Rock, on top of which the temple was built, contains two separate flights of steps cut into it. One flight of steps dates back to the Gampola Kingdom of the 14^th Century whilst the other dates back to around 1913 AD. The thick outer walls are splendidly designed with arches and sculptures giving Lankatilaka Viharaya its unique architectural features.
