Time Out says

Knuckles is a mist-laden mountain range smack bang in the centre of Sri Lanka. It is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Central Highlands Site, which is a popular hiking destination. Their name comes from a set of peaks which look somewhat like a clenched fist when viewed from certain vantage points. The area is green and lush, with varying landscapes and plenty of waterfalls and wildlife. Cloud forests and contain flora and fauna that cannot be found anywhere else in the world. You can hire guides to join you on the steep or steady inclines of these visually stunning peaks.
