Kiri Vehera

Dating back to the third century and built by King Mahasen, Kiri Vehera is located near the Kataragama Devalaya. Lord Buddha is said to have stopped at the location on his third visit to Sri Lanka and therefore it is one of the most popular pilgrimage sites in the country. It is believed that a Hair Relic of Lord Buddha lies within the stupa. Venerated by pilgrims and visitors alike, the majestic Kiri Vehera is a vision as it silhouettes the azure skies.
