This mosque with its 1000-year history, commands a headland overlooking the Beruwala Harbour. It is a significant landmark of the town and one of Sri Lanka’s oldest mosques. The Mosque reputedly stands at the spot where the ancestors of the Sri Lankan Muslim community landed in 1024 AD. The beautifully minimalistic architecture draws many visitors. The best time to visit is during the annual celebration marking the end of Ramadan.
