Time Out says

This ancient reservoir, with a circumference of 40 miles, is an engineering marvel. Believed to have been constructed by King Datusena (459-477AD), the tank formed part of an ancient irrigation system that was used for agriculture, helping to uplift the region.

Elephants can be seen on the banks of this tank in the evening.
