Housed within a heritage building that's been around since 1927, the luxurious yet playful Sofitel So Singapore is finally opening. Designed by locally-based French design house MIAJA, the 134-room hotel also features several specially designed or curated items by Karl Lagerfeld. The rooms are divided into the So Heritage and So Hip wings to reflect the harmonious juxtaposition of old and new in Singapore, and each one comes with a range of Apple technology (including an iPhone and iPad), a largely complimentary personal bar and, if you're staying at their top-tier So Lofty or So VIP suites, a two-person bathtub.
Guests can choose to relax at HI SO, the golden rooftop infinity pool and bar, or La BiblioteK, a library and bookshop with titles selected by Lagerfeld. It sits next to Xperience, the hotel's signature bar and restaurant, which serves up French fusion cuisine and a delicious menu of wines and cocktails. For those looking for a more unique experience, request to dine at their Bed Table, where food will be served quite literally in a bed located in a secluded corner of the space. And if you'd like to keep fit after the meal, head to So FIT, a spacious gym with cardio and strength equipment, as well as an indoor rock climbing wall; a personal trainer or yoga instructor can be organised on request.
Two opening offers are available, including the 'Weekends@So' (champagne brunch on Saturday, accommodation and all-day champagne breakfast on Sunday; $599++/two) and '100 Dollars, 100 Days' (guests who book now will receive a complimentary $100 F&B voucher valid for a 100-day period). Gwen Pew
